What does personalized medicine mean to you and your family?

August 5, 2014
In June 2014, our gift club members attended a special panel discussion featuring Drs. Patricia Dawson, Hank Kaplan, Tanya Wahl of Swedish Cancer Institute (SCI) and David J. Corwin of CellNetix Pathology and Laboratories, Inc., at an Educational Forum hosted by Swedish Medical Center Foundation. Thomas D. Brown, M.D., MBA, and executive director of SCI, lead the panel in a conversation on what personalized medicine--using molecular biology to find the personal ‘molecular fingerprint’ of both the cancer patient and their tumor to inform customized, preventative, or anticancer therapy--will look like at SCI and how Swedish is leading the way in transforming cancer care in our community. You can watch a video of the panel discussion online at: www.swedishfoundation.org/events/140626-educational-forum. Periodic Educational Forums are just one benefit of our giving clubs for donors contributing $1,500 or more per year.
